WEST RIDING SENIOR CUP

LEEDS UNITED BEAT BRADFORD CITY IN SEMI-FINAL

Leeds United won the semi-final tie at Valley Parade yesterday, but on the run of the play a draw would more fairly have represented the merits of the teams. In the opening stages, Leeds settled to their work more quickly, and by superior combination soon had the City defence in difficulties. Before ten minutes had gone they forced a corner and when Mason caused the ball to come down in front of goal Hart headed it into the Citizens' net. This was the only goal scored but the Paraders were unfortunate not to equalise, especially at the opening of the second half. Logan was conspicious, and Whalley was lucky to keep out with his foot a hard low straight shot by the City right wing., whilst immediately after Logan had another dangerous low shot charged out of play. The United team were not as often on the offensive after as before the interval. Result:- Leeds United 1 goal, Bradford City none.

Teams:- Leeds United: Whalley, goal; Duffield and Potts, backs; Gascoigne, Hart and Baker, half backs; Mason, Dark, Poyntz, Swan and Clark, forwards. Bradford City: Ewart, goal; Cheetham and Watson (W.), backs; Hargreaves, Pratt and Howson, half backs; Logan, Kilborn, Cant, Chalmers and Rigby, forwards. Referee: J. Hoyle, Halifax.
